Red Squirrel Architects is an RIBA-chartered practice based in Forest Hill, South East London. Established in 2007 by directors Miles Griffies and Carl Johansen-Ward, the practice has built a strong reputation for design excellence.

Miles is a director and co-founder of Red Squirrel Architects. He completed his study at Birmingham School of Architecture, and in 1994 he was awarded the runner up prize to the RIBA President’s Silver Medal for his postgraduate work. Following this Miles worked in Singapore for three years on a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. He also worked in Australia for 2 years during which time he worked for Woods Baggot Architects on the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. In 1999 Miles moved to London where he worked for Arts Team/ RHWL Architects for 8 years gaining experience working on arts, entertainment, and educational projects. Miles is a registered architect and has over 30 years working experience.

Carl is a director of Red Squirrel Architects and completed his study at the Manchester School of Architecture. In between studies, Carl worked in Germany for 18 months on a number of educational, commercial and residential projects. In 1998, Carl moved to London where he worked for Derek Wylie Architecture on various commercial restaurant and high spec residential projects. In 2001, Carl joined Arts Team at RHWL Architects, working for 9 years on several high-profile theatre projects, including the Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin. Prior to joining RSA, Carl worked for Ushida Findlay Architects as the project architect on the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower and a high profile private residential complex in Highgate, London.

Beth studied her undergraduate in Sheffield before moving to London and working as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant for 3 years. Experience in multiple firms, including BDP, IF_DO and Kennedy Woods, allowed insight into various architectural sectors, including education, commercial and residential. Following her master’s completion at Westminster University, Beth began working at Red Squirrel Architects, where she has honed her love for small-scale domestic architecture. In 2022 Beth completed her Part 3 qualifications and is a registered Architect.

Pani completed his studies at the Birmingham School of Architecture, where he met Miles. He subsequently worked in London on a wide range of residential, commercial, and leisure projects, eventually leading the Commercial Architecture Division at Kennedy Haywards and in 2004, he established his own architecture and development company. Over the years, Pani has also worked internationally, including in France, Cyprus, and the Caribbean. He has delivered bespoke residential properties for high-net-worth individuals, served as project lead on the multi award-winning Cap St Georges Resort on the western coast of Cyprus, and led the remodelling of the European headquarters of Emirates Airlines. Pani has been part of the Red Squirrel team since 2012.
